5 Step Social Media Content Strategy

Today I’m going to share my five step social media content strategy. I’ll tell you how to figure out what to post so that your voice on social media is aligned with your actual voice! One of the most common questions I get from my clients is what to do when you get busy with creating content.

Creating content for social media doesn’t have to be complicated or intimidating. If you focus on the questions your clients are asking, then you have all the information you need.

We talk about:

-answering the right questions

-dispelling false beliefs

-listening to your audience

-document your life

-staying consistent

-when to hire

[00:00:05] Welcome to The Aaron LeBauer Show. This is the number one show for passionate physical therapy and health care entrepreneurs

[00:00:11] Looking to level up their income and impact on the world. If that's you then you're in the right place

[00:00:17] So sit back chill out and let's get into the show

[00:00:21] Hey, welcome back to The Aaron LeBauer Show today. You're gonna learn the five-step social media content strategy. So my name is Dr

[00:00:32] Aaron LeBauer

[00:00:33] I've been creating

[00:00:35] content for a long time

[00:00:37] And the number one question I get from people especially when they're starting new on social media or

[00:00:44] Into like a new online business coaching business

[00:00:48] online training

[00:00:50] Etc is what do I post on social media? And how do I exactly do I do it?

[00:00:54] And so I want to answer some of those questions today

[00:00:57] I've had some clients come in asking about you know, what's the best way to do this strategy without getting overwhelmed?

[00:01:03] I've had clients coming in who are doing really well with it and then they're super busy

[00:01:08] So I'm gonna answer what do you do when you get super busy creating content? Okay, so number one

[00:01:14] Number one problem is like what do I actually post what to post? Here's exactly what to post post

[00:01:21] helpful

[00:01:22] engaging shareable content

[00:01:24] All right, Aaron. How do I know what that content is?

[00:01:27] You know, this is the funny thing is I can't tell you exactly what your content is

[00:01:31] You actually have to figure this out for yourself. Okay. Here's the framework though. It's

[00:01:38] answer the question

[00:01:40] That's in your clients mind. Okay, so what's this number one question that they have?

[00:01:46] What are the false beliefs that they have what we have to do is we have to break down the false beliefs

[00:01:50] And we have to answer the big question

[00:01:52] I think for our clinic the number one question is is physical therapy actually gonna fix me if I

[00:01:58] Say yes, is it actually gonna work? I

[00:02:03] Have to answer that question. We also have to you know fix the answer the false beliefs around

[00:02:09] You know, I was told that I have a herniated disc and it's always gonna live with me or it's because it's you know

[00:02:15] It's hereditary or you know, I've got arthritis in my knees and their bone-on-bone. I can't actually I can no longer run

[00:02:22] You know, it's like what are these false beliefs?

[00:02:25] You know, it's like what are these false beliefs like some of these false beliefs are put there by other health care providers

[00:02:31] Other ones are put there by society. What are these big questions that they have? What's this question?

[00:02:36] let's say you are coaching physical therapists and

[00:02:41] Your subset is whether it's travel pts home health skilled nursing cash-based

[00:02:46] It's I mean the really big question that people are asking they're not really saying but they're asking is

[00:02:52] How am I going to stay in this career?

[00:02:55] and

[00:02:56] feel like

[00:02:58] What I invested in school and time and money is worth it and still be able to pay all the bills and pay off

[00:03:03] My student loans and have a life that's meaningful to me. That's really the big question

[00:03:08] They're asking okay, and it's related to money and satisfaction

[00:03:12] Like can I have enough money? You know people wouldn't say

[00:03:17] No to cash based PT or people wouldn't say no to coaching or people wouldn't say no to

[00:03:22] Physical therapy if they believed that the outcome was possible for them

[00:03:27] It's because there's some doubt that this outcome is gonna happen for them

[00:03:33] And here's the thing. It's like I can't guarantee you the results

[00:03:36] legally, I can't guarantee you the results in my clinic and

[00:03:40] ethically, I can't guarantee you results when you work with me as a business coach because I can't guarantee you're gonna do the work just

[00:03:47] Like with your patients you can't guarantee that they're gonna go home and do all the exercises like you said, right?

[00:03:54] So but here's the content is we have to answer these questions. So how do we find out what these questions are?

[00:03:59] We have to interview our audience

[00:04:02] Number one it's what questions are people naturally asking you okay when I started teaching

[00:04:09] Business and cash based physical therapy people just ask me Aaron. What are you doing with super bills?

[00:04:13] What are you doing about Medicare, what are you doing with about doctors referrals?

[00:04:17] How are you marketing to people who are ready to pay cash?

[00:04:19] How are you doing X and so, you know

[00:04:23] They just asked me these questions and I got on a bunch of calls with people and I did one-on-one

[00:04:28] Coaching and I was in chat rooms and I just so you just got to listen

[00:04:32] You don't want to force it. You just got to listen

[00:04:35] Listen to what people are naturally asking you and go answer those questions

[00:04:39] That's basically what I'm doing today people ask me questions about how do we do social media?

[00:04:43] How do I really get started? What's the best use of my time? What's most effective and and this is it

[00:04:49] So put out polls ask questions to individual DMS and chats get on calls, you know ask like what's most frustrating for you

[00:04:57] What's the number one question you have about X?

[00:04:59] Etc and then you make content answering those questions

[00:05:03] And then you take it like we're gonna take this video and put on a podcast YouTube

[00:05:07] YouTube shorts Instagram reels Facebook actually don't put it much on Facebook anymore because your Facebook throttles your

[00:05:15] reach on there, but

[00:05:17] If I were you I'd be using your personal Facebook account

[00:05:20] Which is number two your personal pace with your your Facebook personal page your personal Facebook page

[00:05:26] Is a better resource than your business page. Here's what you need to know is that Facebook

[00:05:33] Wants to keep people on Facebook and they want you to share your daily insights and stuff on Facebook and they're gonna show it to people

[00:05:40] Right, they're gonna do that

[00:05:42] So make your personal page your business page and just give up the fact that miss Edna down the street is gonna

[00:05:48] Give two shits about

[00:05:51] Your business like what you say and in that man

[00:05:54] I mean when I started using my personal Facebook page, I had clients say hey Aaron

[00:05:58] I really it doesn't really feel good to me

[00:06:00] Like that you're talking about cash and physical therapy even though I come to see you or I've been to see you it doesn't feel

[00:06:05] Right. You shouldn't be talking about that. Well, here's the deal

[00:06:08] majority of my

[00:06:10] Facebook friends are

[00:06:12] My business prospects avatars business clients

[00:06:16] now it wasn't at that time, but it's become that because I was using it as that and

[00:06:23] If you own a physical therapy cash practice and you have friends locally

[00:06:28] You should be making more friends locally because they're more likely to get to know you and love you and

[00:06:34] Want to do business with you in just in the last month. I've had four people. I know that are friends

[00:06:41] become

[00:06:43] clients

[00:06:44] Patients, I mean it happens all the time, but it's just like I think in the last yeah in the last 30 days

[00:06:50] No less than four

[00:06:52] Who are people I know and I'm in and they've referred me people before

[00:06:56] You know, I'm like you need to get in for this thing stop complaining to me or they'll just contact me

[00:07:01] Hey, I want to rather work with a friend and someone I don't know

[00:07:05] So the more people, you know in your community the better it is for you

[00:07:08] And that's also why as a business coach why early on I went to PPS and CSM

[00:07:13] I did that a lot so I could get in front of people. I want to meet people

[00:07:18] People see me see how tall I am see that I really have red hair

[00:07:20] I'm real breathing live human being and you start to believe in and understand that this is a

[00:07:27] There's a real person not just some like

[00:07:30] Talking head on social media

[00:07:33] You know, so your Facebook page business page. It's these personal connections document don't create

[00:07:40] So there's two types of content one is teaching educational and the other one is documentation

[00:07:47] So yes answer these questions in their mind, but also there's a place for documenting your life

[00:07:53] And not just creating not just creating content to teach other people and and and make them know better

[00:07:59] It's like document what you're doing during the day. That's why

[00:08:02] Unreal's it's a little bit time-consuming

[00:08:04] Or it can be a hey, I'm 50. I'm a Gen Xer

[00:08:08] You know, I mean if you're a millennial maybe it's easier for you because you've been on the Instagram and these apps

[00:08:15] Not longer than me but earlier in your life

[00:08:18] And when I was in my 20s, we didn't really have cell phones not when I was when I was a bike messenger

[00:08:25] and I was 24 I

[00:08:27] Had friends with cell phones, but I didn't have one cuz and then I got one and no one called me on it

[00:08:32] You know, I mean, you know like the dispatcher would call me on the radio

[00:08:37] Page me I'd stop at a payphone and call him on the 1-800 number

[00:08:40] I mean, you know a cell phone would have been nice but

[00:08:45] No one had them. They were expensive

[00:08:47] And so sometimes for some of you

[00:08:50] Instagram reels and and shorts and stories. It's gonna come more natural to you than it will to some old

[00:08:56] out-of-touch

[00:08:58] Codger like me which I'm not really out of touch. It's just what have you what have you done?

[00:09:04] You might think I'm out of touch, but I know I'm not

[00:09:06] But what have you been doing growing up with it might be easier for you

[00:09:09] For me what I do and for clients who are like, I don't like doing it. I'll record the videos

[00:09:14] I use this great app. It's called spark camera probably cost 40 bucks a year

[00:09:18] I'll do it and that's really easy where I'll take these videos and I'll send them to my VA Laura and she'll make them

[00:09:23] For me, it didn't come out 24 hours later

[00:09:26] But it does or I can employ my kids to do it and sometimes I'll do it and sometimes they won't

[00:09:32] But you document don't create, you know who does really

[00:09:35] Good job of this

[00:09:37] Odell Miller so shout out to Odell. I think it's at Odell Miller

[00:09:41] Off the bench app is his business. He's been working with us

[00:09:44] He joined her plan mastermind right after he graduated and crushed it in business and he was already crushing it

[00:09:50] He's a great dude. So a couple episodes ago interviewed him check him out. We talked more about that

[00:09:57] Because people want to do business with their friends

[00:10:00] Hence the theme, you know, you're not doing any social media posting or anything start with two reels a week

[00:10:06] Don't even do Instagram posts

[00:10:08] Maybe it's two reels a week

[00:10:09] Maybe if your audience is in their 20s, you know to tick-tock videos or weak

[00:10:13] You know just depends on where your audience is but just start with two a week. Maybe Wednesdays and Saturdays

[00:10:18] Wednesdays you answer a question

[00:10:20] Saturdays you break a false belief

[00:10:23] With a meme that's what our memes do is they break false beliefs about

[00:10:27] You know money finance physical therapy cash based practice, etc

[00:10:32] And just be consistent and then the next thing is be consistent

[00:10:36] Right. So start with two a week and then be consistent

[00:10:42] Even if it and don't worry about likes follows, etc

[00:10:45] You know you create a call to action and everything but just do it consistently and don't worry about it

[00:10:51] Just you have to consistently get out there and help people and be consistent

[00:10:55] And there's a whole lot more to this like how do we market on social media, etc

[00:11:01] But if you're trying to start an online business and you have no email followers barely any Instagram followers

[00:11:06] You're not creating content. You're not creating shareable helpful things

[00:11:09] You're just you know, maybe showing some pictures of your life, which is a little bit of documentation

[00:11:14] But like the document you go watch my stories watch Odell really

[00:11:18] It's more of a here's what I'm doing today. But here's the message

[00:11:22] Here's how it relates to my audience's life and a lot of times I'll take a video

[00:11:26] I'm going backwards a step, but I'll take a video of me lifting weights and I'll match it to an audio

[00:11:30] I really it's inspiring

[00:11:32] or one of my audios

[00:11:34] Or just music and I'll write a little caption, you know, and it had the caption has nothing to do with the video

[00:11:42] But there's videos nothing to do with the caption

[00:11:44] But is everything to do with it because people want to be a fly on the wall

[00:11:47] so then you do two a week and then you're consistent and

[00:11:52] It's the consistency that's the most important consistently taking action

[00:11:57] Okay, those are the five things

[00:11:59] Create engaging and shareable content

[00:12:02] Treat your Facebook page like a business page

[00:12:05] Document don't create start with two reels a week and be consistent. Okay, that's five

[00:12:10] Things that's a five-step social media strategy if you do that

[00:12:14] You'll grow it then the next things you're gonna need to do is move people from social media to your email list

[00:12:20] Move people into a paid products free products, etc

[00:12:23] But I mean there's a whole lot of other stuff to do

[00:12:26] But if we're just looking at how do we do social media and be helpful there do that?

[00:12:29] Oh and bonus choose one platform and just go all in on that one platform for me

[00:12:33] It's Instagram for some of you. It might be tick-tock. It might be

[00:12:37] YouTube

[00:12:39] Okay, so one of our my coaching clients Zach Atwood the football doc

[00:12:46] We're on a coaching call about a month or two ago in

[00:12:50] In our platinum mastermind. He was like Aaron. When do I get a VA?

[00:12:54] You know, I'm doing a lot of social media and doing a lot of things and it's taking a lot of time

[00:12:59] He's like I think I should get it

[00:13:00] But I don't know if I can afford it and I was like well

[00:13:02] How much time a week does it take you he's like I'm spending like 10 hours a week

[00:13:06] You know recording and editing and doing all these things

[00:13:09] and then he

[00:13:12] Was like dude, it's time it's way past time but it's time to get the VA to do this and we have a whole social media

[00:13:19] It's called the social media marketing funnel and it's a it's a training that I have in our platinum mastermind

[00:13:25] I was like go watch that and do it and he went and did it. He he got hired the VA

[00:13:30] So we have training on how to hire VA

[00:13:32] We have training on this like content creation funnel

[00:13:36] And went and did it we chatted last week

[00:13:39] Not only have like a record 27k month, but he's putting out

[00:13:45] 10 times he 10 X his business since

[00:13:48] October so in like eight months he 10 X his business from 3k to 27 K

[00:13:54] He's got another 10 to 15 hours a week that he can

[00:13:58] See patients generate money do group

[00:14:01] Group coaching stuff and he's putting out I think two or three pieces of content a day

[00:14:07] At a pace he couldn't do on his own and people ask me all the time Aaron

[00:14:09] How do you do so much social media? It's because it's not me doing it

[00:14:13] it's the VA and

[00:14:16] I was like, is that VA well worth these again?

[00:14:18] I mean, how do you have more time to grow his business? It's because he bought his time back by hiring a VA. So

[00:14:24] It's one of these funny things funny enough that I'll go and I'm following people

[00:14:29] online who are these like influencers in business or

[00:14:33] like

[00:14:34] Podcasts and they're talking about how they're spending all these time

[00:14:38] Editing their podcasts and any of social media and I'm like, yo, you're successful like hire someone else to do it

[00:14:44] You have way more time

[00:14:45] But maybe they don't know maybe you don't know so that's the deal

[00:14:49] So that's like the social media content strategy. I think if I were you

[00:14:54] Here's what I would do is I'd find out

[00:14:56] What are the people in your orbit want to learn more about from you and start creating it and putting it out there?

[00:15:01] What do they want to see?

[00:15:04] And just go and do it and then let me know

[00:15:07] I mean you need to know who your avatar is

[00:15:10] You need to have a clear idea who you help what you help them do like your USP

[00:15:14] You got to know those things if you don't know those it's gonna be really hard to you know, have a clear content strategy

[00:15:20] But just use this strategy. It's not the it's not the only one

[00:15:24] It's the basic one and as you get going you you update it and then we've got a five by five content

[00:15:30] grid for marketing strategy that'll help you build out a

[00:15:33] All-of-your-content for the month and know so that you can batch your content batch record

[00:15:38] Batch edit batch post or just batch record and then send it off to the VA

[00:15:43] To get all that stuff done

[00:15:45] And it's it's simple but not

[00:15:49] Easy because it takes work and if you're allergic to hard work

[00:15:53] You shouldn't start a business and that's for sure

[00:15:56] You should just clock in clock out and go home drink some brewski's hang with the boys or girls or whoever

[00:16:01] You know play pool do the thing watch football on Sundays do all that stuff like cool

[00:16:08] I mean if you're ready to grow and scale a business in the fastest time possible

[00:16:13] And you've already got an email list social media following and you're generating income through like some online course or

[00:16:21] Coaching program we might be able to help you

[00:16:23] I don't know if I can help you but we might be able to because I've helped a lot of people

[00:16:27] Go from you know, three to five K months online to twenty thirty forty and even fifty K online

[00:16:33] And if that sounds like you and you'd like to chat and see if how we can help go to call with Aaron calm

[00:16:39] Check out the videos book in a time and we'll chat and see if we can

[00:16:44] Help you and if we can't we'll let you know the call is free. I got nothing to sell you on that call

[00:16:48] I just want to see if I can help because for the right people it's that right opportunity to grow a business

[00:16:55] Leveraging social media

[00:16:56] automations

[00:16:58] Online courses coaching groups, etc. There's a lot of opportunities, but you don't have to do them all

[00:17:03] We might just need to figure out the right strategy for the right time

[00:17:06] And I think that's it for today

[00:17:09] Be sure to comment below if you're watching this on YouTube. Let me know is most helpful

[00:17:13] Would love to get some feedback on the podcast, but maybe you should email me, you know something like that

[00:17:20] Let me know what's helpful for you next time

[00:17:22] Yeah, I send you an email if you're not my email list you can go

[00:17:28] You get my free book checklist or just say Aaron message me Aaron. I won't go on your email list

[00:17:33] how do I do that and

[00:17:35] You can do that too

[00:17:37] Thank you so much. We'll see on the next episode

[00:17:39] Peace out. Hey, what's up? It's Aaron
