When we did a bit more, we discover many of these fears come from what we are told by providers.
"You have degenerative disk disease, you should never deadlift again!"
"Oh with that knee arthritis, you shouldn't be doing squats."
Needless to say, I think this is absolute BS.
We as providers should be empowering people to move, exercise, be strong, and functionally lift rather than scaring them into not moving.
Furthermore, there is a lot of research that shows strength training is exactly what we should be doing as a part of our routine to help create a stronger and more resilient body!
