Who can get better outcomes with a cash-pay patient - an insurance-based PT or a cash-based PT? Who would win? As cash-based PT becomes more attractive due to declining insurance reimbursements and burnout, PTs are at risk of wasting years and hundreds of thousands of dollars on building a business.

In this episode, Dr. Chris shares how the insurance-based approach is vastly different from cash PT and what you can implement to WIN as a cash PT. If you want to avoid wasting time and money on your cash PT business, this episode is perfect for you. Enjoy episode 164 on the Sports PT Academy podcast on YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Podcasts!

[00:00:08] [SPEAKER_00]: Are you looking to work with more athletes?

[00:00:09] [SPEAKER_00]: Become a sports specialist.

[00:00:11] [SPEAKER_00]: Or even get a job in a sports setting so you can finally enjoy the career that you've always dreamed of.

[00:00:16] [SPEAKER_00]: If so, you're in the right place.

[00:00:17] [SPEAKER_00]: My name is Chris Garcia, physical therapist, business owner, entrepreneur and residency training sports specialist.

[00:00:23] [SPEAKER_00]: I've been fortunate to work in professional sports and travel around the world working with a lead athletes throughout my career.

[00:00:28] [SPEAKER_00]: And I've learned a lot of lessons along the way.

[00:00:31] [SPEAKER_00]: I created this podcast to share my experiences and give you everything you need to know to help you become a sports expert.

[00:00:37] [SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to the Sports PT Academy.

[00:00:43] [SPEAKER_00]: What's the difference between an insurance-based PT and a cash-based PT?

[00:00:47] [SPEAKER_00]: If both of them were treating a cash-pay patient, who would get better outcomes and who would win?

[00:00:53] [SPEAKER_00]: That's what we're going to talk about on today's episode.

[00:00:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Before I go on to the podcast, welcome all new listeners and welcome back to those who have heard my content in the past.

[00:01:02] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm excited to talk about cash versus insurance and what's the difference.

[00:01:08] [SPEAKER_00]: But before I go on to that, what is new in life? What is happening?

[00:01:12] [SPEAKER_00]: It's my son's birthday this week. He has turned 8 many of you who've been with me for years on this podcast.

[00:01:19] [SPEAKER_00]: He has grown into an amazing kid and very proud of him.

[00:01:24] [SPEAKER_00]: I can describe him as a deep feeler. He knows by language he reads people and he understands when people aren't happy or sad.

[00:01:33] [SPEAKER_00]: I love that about him. That's one of his greatest strengths. He's just an overall good kid.

[00:01:37] [SPEAKER_00]: But life is great. The kids are doing fantastic. My daughter is crushing it in CrossFit.

[00:01:43] [SPEAKER_00]: I haven't shared that. She is really good at gymnastics and CrossFit.

[00:01:47] [SPEAKER_00]: She loves the two things she loves right now. At the age of six, she is already beating me on Toes de Bar and a couple other bodyweight stuff.

[00:01:55] [SPEAKER_00]: It's amazing to watch her. My son Jacob is almost there with polytrating.

[00:01:59] [SPEAKER_00]: Those have been following. That's fantastic.

[00:02:02] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going on a date night with my wife every month for those who know.

[00:02:07] [SPEAKER_00]: Every month it's important for me to just kind of regroup and embrace marriage and just talk about everything else.

[00:02:14] [SPEAKER_00]: But kids and work in business. It's just our time to bond and just hang out.

[00:02:20] [SPEAKER_00]: I was just good. My fitness is doing great.

[00:02:23] [SPEAKER_00]: I launched my cash PT kind of graduation course. We have three attendees, which is fantastic.

[00:02:28] [SPEAKER_00]: We're just looking for a few more to be able to start that night.

[00:02:31] [SPEAKER_00]: October. I did promise on my last few YouTube videos that we were going to launch a new service for patients all over the world.

[00:02:43] [SPEAKER_00]: And that was launched on my Instagram at Chris Garcia D.P.T.

[00:02:47] [SPEAKER_00]: We have a new Instagram and a new account for four patients who are undergoing stem cell therapy.

[00:02:55] [SPEAKER_00]: They're looking for resource of clinicians who can manage these cases and I know this podcast is about insurance versus cash.

[00:03:03] [SPEAKER_00]: But stem cell therapy has been just a huge game changer for a lot of patients.

[00:03:07] [SPEAKER_00]: And I've seen it happen. I've seen the results and these patients while they put this money and time invested into this.

[00:03:14] [SPEAKER_00]: The recovery process, just like a surgery is half the battle.

[00:03:18] [SPEAKER_00]: And so when they typically go out to orthopedic settings, maybe insurance space.

[00:03:22] [SPEAKER_00]: That's what we're talking about that today. They don't get the solutions they need and a lot of times they don't get the outcomes.

[00:03:28] [SPEAKER_00]: So we're creating a network of four PT's all over the world to be able to serve these people because they need it and they deserve it.

[00:03:34] [SPEAKER_00]: So that's what we're doing next. So, all right, let's go into the podcast. Why are we talking with this?

[00:03:41] [SPEAKER_00]: All right, there's several layers while I'm talking about this but it's ultimately to save you two to three years in a life.

[00:03:50] [SPEAKER_00]: 25 to $150,000 of potential wasted time and money that you can have into considering being a cash based PT.

[00:04:01] [SPEAKER_00]: And this came off of a mentorship session I had with a PT who was their first year in.

[00:04:07] [SPEAKER_00]: And they are now getting it. They're in the groove. They finally understood it. They're using a proper framework, a proper script.

[00:04:16] [SPEAKER_00]: They're using great plans of care. They're using a good outline on how to help people across a year and beyond and improve their health.

[00:04:26] [SPEAKER_00]: And I asked them you know what's been the biggest change. Now that they have steady flow and good schedule they said you don't.

[00:04:32] [SPEAKER_00]: I was using what I had learned in PT school but also you know like you don't know any different that's ultimately it. You know, you don't think that cash is any different because you just have more time and you're like you're seeing the same customer literally you can see that same customer, same patient.

[00:04:49] [SPEAKER_00]: In the clinic on a Friday and they decide you know what I'm going to go cash on Monday and they go to another physical therapist and they might receive the same care and they're like wait, why is that change?

[00:05:00] [SPEAKER_00]: And we're going through that whole process and in a very great conversation. And I want to share with you because I think there's a lot of you out there who might be considering it or in it and you know like maybe you think you're doing good.

[00:05:11] [SPEAKER_00]: So I'm going to give you some good tips to be able to refine a couple things that you're doing great.

[00:05:17] [SPEAKER_00]: But ultimately if you're in your first one to three years and you're grinding, I can tell you I can save you time. I can save you more importantly money.

[00:05:25] [SPEAKER_00]: The real the reality is I see people who are willing to put in that time and they're willing to hustle and you're not scared of that but looking hindsight.

[00:05:33] [SPEAKER_00]: There's faster, more efficient ways to do it and we'll explain more about it. But it just came from a good conversation and I think that you all have that same question or you've had it at one point and so you're like well was it the right decision?

[00:05:45] [SPEAKER_00]: I've done that better, you know, you're always kind of marinating your head and I wanted to go through that with you. So that's what we're talking about today's podcast. This is for somebody established who is looking to refine and maybe they've already wasted that time that like gosh I wish I knew the sooner.

[00:06:01] [SPEAKER_00]: You have the person who is in the grind and looking for a way out a little bit more efficiently and potentially somebody who is about to start and they have their head on straight and they're like I don't want to waste time or money.

[00:06:14] [SPEAKER_00]: I'd rather figure this out from the beginning those three people somewhere in there you'll find yourself. So, all right here we are.

[00:06:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Let me describe the difference between insurance and cash. You know so first we all know what insurance is because that's the same thing.

[00:06:31] [SPEAKER_00]: I think about this. You as a clinician you were raised, born and raised if if PT school was a parent you were born and raised with the mindset that you are going to get the skills

[00:06:43] [SPEAKER_00]: to be able to deliver in a factory like setting you were born and bred to be like in an Amazon factory think about them right Amazon factories have like a product line

[00:06:55] [SPEAKER_00]: and you put the tape on the box and you put things in tape tape it in here and you scan it and then you move it on to the next conveyor belt and then you just watch things happen right like your part of the process.

[00:07:06] [SPEAKER_00]: And the customer orders online you see it on the screen they go through the process and they do it so you're being told what the order is right you're looking at the screen what's the order like I'm a

[00:07:18] [SPEAKER_00]: person. You see the order it's telling you what to do comes down the pipeline you build the burger you put in the wrapper boom and at the end of the day like

[00:07:25] [SPEAKER_00]: gosh that's a lot because I just packed you know 100 or 1000 Amazon boxes or I packed 87 happy meals or 1000 happy meals.

[00:07:35] [SPEAKER_00]: And that's what you were born to do that's what you're doing that's what you were trained to do as a clinician now that's not why you got into the profession but think about this

[00:07:44] [SPEAKER_00]: PT school essentially said you have to abide by our standards to be able to pass our board right so the PT school says the standard is the board exam and the board exam says well we're going to go to the standards of what insurance

[00:08:02] [SPEAKER_00]: typically does you have to manage pain you have to manage impairments and then the APTA says we're going to agree with this so insurance and APTA are kind of like the head hunches or the ones who are like we're going to tell you how to think

[00:08:14] [SPEAKER_00]: APTA insurance based company Scott. They design or they dictate what is going to be on the exam because those exams have to be able to like support what's going to be ethical and good and everything else

[00:08:25] [SPEAKER_00]: So they're teaching you to be a robot and you take the test and you're like that's fantastic. I'm ready to rock and roll. I'm going to make a change in this world and then you go to an insurance based setting

[00:08:37] [SPEAKER_00]: and you're like all right this is it today's my first year out my first week on the on the job and I'm going to make a difference and then you realize

[00:08:46] [SPEAKER_00]: you get a bunch of orders you get 28 orders in a day and you're like well I got to fill on patient number one two three and four in the first hour got it.

[00:08:54] [SPEAKER_00]: Then you're doing go to your metric measures and you're packing the this is the burger right here you're doing that and then you do the measurements and you do the special test and then you're just wrapping up that happy meal

[00:09:03] [SPEAKER_00]: And then you're just writing all your notes and then that's the that's the delivery of the product and then you're done with that person right so you did the impairments you did a little bit of treatment given the therax

[00:09:12] [SPEAKER_00]: Right there planet care did their notes send them off that's the first burger. That's the Amazon package great

[00:09:18] [SPEAKER_00]: And now you have 28 or 27 of more those to go in the day for those who treat 28 patients a day I know you have seen you you're basically looking at them and McDonald's screen saying what do I do here

[00:09:29] [SPEAKER_00]: And at some point your hands hurt your body hurts and you're like I got in this so I could help design those orders. I got in this because I wanted to make a difference

[00:09:39] [SPEAKER_00]: I didn't get in here to take you know Amazon or McDonald's orders and that's tough for people you've never really seen it that way and when you and for those who don't know I've had a cash based PT practice

[00:09:52] [SPEAKER_00]: And so new California, which is the most expensive city in the United States by the way and I've been able to scale that to three locations and with over 15 staff and at one point I think I had 18 staff and

[00:10:03] [SPEAKER_00]: I can tell you I did it for the right reasons the same way you did it I went into cash because I wanted to make a difference. I wanted to have personalized one one care

[00:10:09] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean all those the fluffy stuff right but also maybe I want to have a direct impact on people and I realize that I

[00:10:16] [SPEAKER_00]: Before you have this this factory line approach and you're trying to figure out okay, I don't want that

[00:10:23] [SPEAKER_00]: I want something different and

[00:10:25] [SPEAKER_00]: First you have to understand that you were raised to fulfill on a meal like setting you like you have to understand if you if you cannot come to terms with that

[00:10:35] [SPEAKER_00]: You're trying to say that you're different your PT school was different but you took the same board that everyone else did for that year or that

[00:10:41] [SPEAKER_00]: Your local region or whatever it was your standards were created so that you can fulfill on that

[00:10:48] [SPEAKER_00]: Then you were put in a factory line and orthopedic setting to fulfill on that you can call yourself whatever you want

[00:10:55] [SPEAKER_00]: You all wear the same badge and I get that and I'm not undermining that it depends on what how you get fulfilled depends on what you want

[00:11:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Some people love that and you know those people that they just want to be factory line workers and that's fantastic

[00:11:09] [SPEAKER_00]: There's nothing wrong with that. I'm saying for the people who want a subset that is just a little different

[00:11:16] [SPEAKER_00]: The reason why you're listening this podcast the reason why you continue to listen me is because you're intrigued because you feel the same way

[00:11:22] [SPEAKER_00]: There are hundreds of thousands of us and I can tell you from the people who listen to the podcast people who've taken my courses

[00:11:29] [SPEAKER_00]: That I get it, you know, we're all trying to do the same thing which is provide a higher level of care

[00:11:35] [SPEAKER_00]: Do it differently do it your way be creative and not have the screen tell you what to do. Don't have Amazon or McDonald's or the APTA or insurance do that

[00:11:45] [SPEAKER_00]: Now here's the problem

[00:11:48] [SPEAKER_00]: Now you say

[00:11:50] [SPEAKER_00]: Forget this. I'm going to take off my blue vest on Amazon or your red vest that target whatever it is you want to do

[00:11:55] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to take off that red vest blue vest and I'm going to say I'm not working at target or Amazon anymore

[00:12:04] [SPEAKER_00]: So now I'm going to break the screen take off my vest and now I'm going to provide a high quality care

[00:12:11] [SPEAKER_00]: All right, so you quit the job at Amazon take the blue vest you come over here and you say I'm going to buy a treatment table

[00:12:19] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to go to a gym and I'm going to set up shop fantastic now here's the problem you go to that place

[00:12:25] [SPEAKER_00]: And then now you bring the same standards that you did with the computer screen over to the gym or wherever is it you're doing a side hustle or whatever it is

[00:12:36] [SPEAKER_00]: And what end to the happening is you still take the factory line approach you still do the the two buns the patty fill that with mustard

[00:12:45] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm put it into a wrapper and put it into the happy meal and then go

[00:12:48] [SPEAKER_00]: But the problem is the customer is not a McDonald's customer

[00:12:53] [SPEAKER_00]: They're not an Amazon customer. They want something different and so you because that's all you know you don't a longer have the screen

[00:13:01] [SPEAKER_00]: The thing you took away was if either thought the thought was if I have more time I can then use that same factory like a approach

[00:13:09] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't I need 15 to 50 minutes any an hour so you do that same factory line approach and now extended over an hour and knowing what you know

[00:13:17] [SPEAKER_00]: You don't need difference. You're like well. I'll just spend more time with hands on work

[00:13:22] [SPEAKER_00]: I'll just spend more time rehabbing them and then I'll spend more time getting them strong getting calling myself performance physical therapists because I'm going to get you back to performance

[00:13:31] [SPEAKER_00]: You're assuming that's what the customer wants

[00:13:33] [SPEAKER_00]: So this customer

[00:13:36] [SPEAKER_00]: Then says well gosh that feels like the factory just a little bit more time and you're like well

[00:13:42] [SPEAKER_00]: That's what I that's what I was doing before and I didn't like it and I think that's what you need and the difference is is that

[00:13:50] [SPEAKER_00]: Customer had always been told what to do with a menu themselves. They were told by the insurance company

[00:13:56] [SPEAKER_00]: They were told by their physician and they too are taking off their vest

[00:14:01] [SPEAKER_00]: They too are getting rid of that screen and now they're coming to see you

[00:14:06] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, you didn't realize is the same thing that's happening to you

[00:14:09] [SPEAKER_00]: You don't want the factory. You don't want the vest. You want freedom

[00:14:13] [SPEAKER_00]: So do they and what that changes is now your person with no vest no screen no more McDonald's

[00:14:20] [SPEAKER_00]: You have the provider with that same process and now they're coming together

[00:14:23] [SPEAKER_00]: The providers like yes, I know exactly what you need you need less go any hominers

[00:14:28] [SPEAKER_00]: You need more load you need more manual work and you need more customized therapeutic exercise

[00:14:32] [SPEAKER_00]: You need more movement where you put them in great positions and you load them and all these other things and then the customer is like gosh

[00:14:39] [SPEAKER_00]: I got that in insurance base care

[00:14:41] [SPEAKER_00]: I know it was only 15 minutes, but that's not what I'm looking for

[00:14:44] [SPEAKER_00]: And so you as a clinician have a realized they're going through the same problem that you are

[00:14:48] [SPEAKER_00]: They were limited on time. They were looking for something different you then implement and understand and say well

[00:14:53] [SPEAKER_00]: I'll give you more time. I'll make it more personalized. I'll give you more exercise

[00:14:56] [SPEAKER_00]: I'll make it look better

[00:14:58] [SPEAKER_00]: You're just taking the factory like a approach and giving it to the patient and that's the problem

[00:15:02] [SPEAKER_00]: So you can't take

[00:15:04] [SPEAKER_00]: traditional orthopedic PT

[00:15:07] [SPEAKER_00]: Board style APTA approach and give it a bring over the cash

[00:15:11] [SPEAKER_00]: And that's what that's the probability ultimate problem that comes from insurance and then you bring that to cash

[00:15:16] [SPEAKER_00]: And it just doesn't work because the customer has made the same decision you have and you just haven't realized it

[00:15:24] [SPEAKER_00]: So the way you think that you're going to get them better is I'll just learn more traditional factory like clinical skills

[00:15:30] [SPEAKER_00]: And I'll just get better at my going on and I'll get better at my rehab process

[00:15:34] [SPEAKER_00]: I'll get better at my performance training. I'll be better at my jumpsome of tile metrics and everything else

[00:15:38] [SPEAKER_00]: And the customer will magically get better

[00:15:40] [SPEAKER_00]: Here's the problem. The customer wants this you sorry the PT wants the skill

[00:15:46] [SPEAKER_00]: That is the thing that's going to get them better

[00:15:48] [SPEAKER_00]: Then you have a customer who's looking for a specific style of care and is now has the power to then decide if this is the one I want

[00:15:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Is this the happy meal that I want? They're not no longer at McDonald's or not the restaurant a high-end restaurant and they're deciding

[00:16:04] [SPEAKER_00]: And they're trying to figure out what's the menu and what you're saying is hey, this is the only menu

[00:16:09] [SPEAKER_00]: And if they're vegetarian and you only serve meat that's a problem and you have to be flexible

[00:16:13] [SPEAKER_00]: So what they're looking for they're not looking for the skills that's your traditional thing

[00:16:18] [SPEAKER_00]: And now they have a buy-in process. Now you have to understand why people make decisions

[00:16:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Why did you come to see me? What was the challenge? What didn't work before you have to understand what brought the person to you

[00:16:28] [SPEAKER_00]: That's the buying process. You don't understand the psychology of buying and making decisions

[00:16:32] [SPEAKER_00]: That skills you relevant. You have the skill that they're looking for right there like hey, I found you on Google

[00:16:38] [SPEAKER_00]: Yelp whatever this and I know you have the skill

[00:16:42] [SPEAKER_00]: Fantastic and you're like great let me throw all those skills on you and hope it gets better

[00:16:46] [SPEAKER_00]: And they're like wait wait

[00:16:47] [SPEAKER_00]: You didn't listen to me. I wasn't looking for those skills. I was looking for can you help me find my problem to get back to running to go to the gym to play pickleball

[00:16:57] [SPEAKER_00]: And you're like well, yeah, you have weak knees and we kips and they're like yeah, I was told that the insurance based company

[00:17:02] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm looking for something different can you help me with my form can you help me with my mechanics?

[00:17:06] [SPEAKER_00]: Can you help me with my training what do I need to avoid how many times should I train what shoes should I wear?

[00:17:12] [SPEAKER_00]: Being able to manage everything outside of just the impairments because that's what a traditional PT does

[00:17:16] [SPEAKER_00]: They just take the happy meal and pack it up. Can you look differently and say you know what I understand

[00:17:22] [SPEAKER_00]: It's no longer about impairments about how what you do outside of these what are their factors

[00:17:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Are you doing what's your health like what is your fitness like what do you do for

[00:17:32] [SPEAKER_00]: Recovery how often do you sleep? I mean all these things that impact and impact pain, but you you're so used the mechanical stress

[00:17:40] [SPEAKER_00]: And that customer is looking for something different. So you're over here trying to sell a happy meal and know we're looking for a different experience

[00:17:46] [SPEAKER_00]: And you can't deliver on that. So we have a person

[00:17:49] [SPEAKER_00]: The person who is the consumer and the buyer and you know the person who's delivering that they're the chef

[00:17:56] [SPEAKER_00]: The problem is is now you can't convey and meet in the middle you're over here trying to shove it down there. They're a throw and saying this is what you need

[00:18:04] [SPEAKER_00]: And they're like all right, we'll find I guess you're just another person on the on the belt

[00:18:08] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, I I've been to three other people you can solve it and just going cash and having more time with them and better skill

[00:18:15] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm better equipment is not the answer and that's what most cash based PT's when they're new they come in

[00:18:21] [SPEAKER_00]: They're like you know, I'll just have I'll get a lot of equipment a lot of barbells all the fanciest things I can do

[00:18:27] [SPEAKER_00]: The best you know the best I don't know products that you can find out there. I've taken all the courses that will solve the problem and the customers like I don't need that

[00:18:37] [SPEAKER_00]: I've already been to that I'm actually intimidated by that and you're like wait I thought that that's what you needed because an insurance

[00:18:42] [SPEAKER_00]: That's whatever one was looking for no that's what the PT was looking for not the consumer the consumers always at looking for an answer

[00:18:48] [SPEAKER_00]: That's why they go to different disciplines and your job here is to understand the buyer understand their process and

[00:18:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Then understand that what you have is only a portion of what they need they need a grander scale

[00:18:59] [SPEAKER_00]: It's not just mechanics. It's more about their health

[00:19:02] [SPEAKER_00]: It's more about their fitness and wellness and how you serve them as a person as a human now

[00:19:07] [SPEAKER_00]: The last part is you have to have a standardized process once you come in a lot of times

[00:19:13] [SPEAKER_00]: The Caspi's PT is new from insurance come in and they're like I have freedom

[00:19:17] [SPEAKER_00]: So now I'm used to having the screen up there now. I'm going to go I'm just going to go free and say you know what no structure

[00:19:26] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to be complete PT hippie and I'm just going to say you know what there's no structure here

[00:19:31] [SPEAKER_00]: We're just going to know whenever you come in yeah, we'll talk about it

[00:19:34] [SPEAKER_00]: And then it's all going to be customized to you

[00:19:36] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't even know what we're going to do but when you come in we'll will assess it

[00:19:40] [SPEAKER_00]: And what that does is not my work for one or two people or your local your your your the people around you who have been looking forward

[00:19:47] [SPEAKER_00]: Do you do it and try to support you and that works for them but somebody who doesn't know you has never met

[00:19:53] [SPEAKER_00]: You've found you on Google is not tied to you. It doesn't really understand what you're trying to do

[00:19:57] [SPEAKER_00]: That doesn't work for them and you're going to have to have a standardized process

[00:20:00] [SPEAKER_00]: And so from going from insurance to cash you went from you know in prison a prisoner to hippie

[00:20:05] [SPEAKER_00]: And that's too far and in somewhere between has to meet so if you don't want to be confined by the shackles of the screen and the best

[00:20:13] [SPEAKER_00]: Then you went over to being hippie and went too far so somewhere in that middle exists

[00:20:17] [SPEAKER_00]: And when you're trying to design a process this is where you this is where the where you'll thrive is once you have a standardized evaluation process

[00:20:26] [SPEAKER_00]: And you have it dialed into the minute what you say is very consistent the plan of care that you create is consistent the number of rehab

[00:20:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Progressions that you provide is consistent and the timing of everything is consistent

[00:20:38] [SPEAKER_00]: That's still a factory line but with personalization

[00:20:41] [SPEAKER_00]: And that's what you have to understand insurance locked you in cash you went too free and hippie

[00:20:46] [SPEAKER_00]: And you need to come back to the center and have structure

[00:20:49] [SPEAKER_00]: And that's where most insurance based PT's will just drown

[00:20:54] [SPEAKER_00]: They will not win I titled this you know who will win and a true good cash PT who will survive and thrive in business

[00:21:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Understand this has developed the process and moved on and maybe even brought on another cash PT with them

[00:21:08] [SPEAKER_00]: And that's a whole different story and we'll do more episodes on that

[00:21:11] [SPEAKER_00]: But ultimately if you can't get this dialed in then your schedules empty you stayed on home health side households

[00:21:17] [SPEAKER_00]: Mobile therapy whatever it is and you can't get this dialed in and you keep thinking what's my skill

[00:21:21] [SPEAKER_00]: It's my skill. It's not your skill. If you're just applying what you learned in the factory like setting to a cash be setting and understanding

[00:21:28] [SPEAKER_00]: You don't know the customer you don't have a process and all you thought was I'll just get more skill

[00:21:33] [SPEAKER_00]: And get more equipment and purchase

[00:21:34] [SPEAKER_00]: And that will solve their problem but that won't and that's why I'm trying to save you

[00:21:39] [SPEAKER_00]: The thousands of dollars up to 150 is what I've heard in the past in the first three to four years of business

[00:21:44] [SPEAKER_00]: Somebody approached me for mentorship and we went through everything that they had wasted and it was about 150 that we could have saved them over time

[00:21:51] [SPEAKER_00]: By just analyzing it earlier and creating that process. So you'll probably find yourself in that

[00:21:57] [SPEAKER_00]: Whether you're new or attempting or you're established like I've already I learned this in my 50 year or whatever it is

[00:22:03] [SPEAKER_00]: So who wins a cash based PT who has this process an insurance base will never win

[00:22:09] [SPEAKER_00]: No matter how good your skills are and truly you know if you have ten years of experience as an insurance base

[00:22:13] [SPEAKER_00]: You can still fail immediately in cash because you don't understand this process the skills you relevant at this point

[00:22:18] [SPEAKER_00]: So if you find yourself in that and you're looking for solutions

[00:22:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Consider taking my cash PT clinical elevation course

[00:22:26] [SPEAKER_00]: It's where I share my tips and my strategies just to outline this exactly this exact process

[00:22:33] [SPEAKER_00]: I get it you went from factory to hippie and now you're trying to find the solution or you're in the factory

[00:22:38] [SPEAKER_00]: And you don't want to just waste a time

[00:22:40] [SPEAKER_00]: You know figuring out for one or two years and making those mistakes

[00:22:44] [SPEAKER_00]: It's a perfect course for you to figure out what the process is what are the scripts

[00:22:48] [SPEAKER_00]: What would you do in the first ten minutes what your therapist structure be how do you get them all over to wellness programs

[00:22:54] [SPEAKER_00]: What do you do on this strength and conditioning side?

[00:22:56] [SPEAKER_00]: What do you say for your plans of care?

[00:22:59] [SPEAKER_00]: What are your ideas?

[00:23:01] [SPEAKER_00]: How do you run that?

[00:23:02] [SPEAKER_00]: How do you create success for a person who's injured?

[00:23:05] [SPEAKER_00]: All the way to pain free and beyond and you can support them with their life and their family and their kids

[00:23:10] [SPEAKER_00]: And it feels good without being sales in you feel amazing about humans helping humans

[00:23:15] [SPEAKER_00]: And that's what we're trying to look for

[00:23:17] [SPEAKER_00]: And right now you just thought well if I just get more time with them

[00:23:21] [SPEAKER_00]: I'll actually get them better and you and I now know that's not the case

[00:23:24] [SPEAKER_00]: I've been mentoring cash PT for over ten years now and I can tell you that is not the solution
