Stop Stretching the Upper Trap - Do This Instead

🤔Upper Trap Tightness or Upper Trap Weakness🤔
A great trend that I am glad is taking off is to strengthen over stretching. Many times tightness is a perception rather than an indication of length. The muscle's capacity may not be up to the tasks the patient is going through daily. Regardless, if you modulate pain/tightness with needling/repeated motions, manipulation or IASTM, the area should be re-tested for strength - often we only test-retest motion and function, but not strength. Then build that capacity with general strengthening. I love the eccentric isometric exercise because the iso hold at the end enables tissue extensibility. Are you a patient in need of my help?
