While there were lumbar and ankle findings, he tested over 50% weaker on dynamometer with the Activforce 2 on R hip ER vs L hip ER. Hip adduction was about 25% weaker on the R as well.
On the first visit, R hip ER and adduction strength was prescribed. There was already a 25% improvement in pain in 2 days. On the second visit, I utilized multi-angle hip isometrics in ER in neutral, full ER and full IR. About 2 min in each position. Afterward, lunging, and running felt better.
Next time you have a patient with deep hip pain that can't be cleared with lumbar and hip treatment, check ER strength and try multi-angle isometrics.
