After prolonged sitting, a squat heavy workout, or lots of kettlebell swings, often we feel the need to extend our hips and lumbar spine, but it feels blocked. While you can certainly push through this with repeated end range loading, resisted isometric extension often rapidly modulates that tightness and improves motion. Isometrics can restore motion in the spine just as well as it does in extremities. This is one of my favorite things to have my wife do after yardwork or certain workouts. Then standing extensions or prone press ups are no issue! Are you a patient in need of my help? Contact me for a live or online consult by going to the link in my profile! Clinician?
