It just snowed across a good portion of the country so I thought I would review my technique for limiting strain on the low back while shoveling
🔵lunge forward and accept weight on the front leg while driving the shovel into the snow
🔵use your front arm and front leg to lift up the snow
🔵plant your rear foot in the direction you are going to throw the snow
🔵lunge into the rear foot and rotate your body toward that foot/hip - this minimizes trunk rotation while accepting the load onto the leg
🔵throw the snow
🔵take frequent breaks and do repeated backward bends to avoid any strain, and in general take breaks, go inside and get some hot coffee, tea, or cocoa!
