QL releases are popular, and effective, especially to improve repeated lumbar loading. In this case, the PT I am demoing on had a loss of hip flexion and IR on the same side QL. This variation is my pain free version, where the patient is instructed to exhale slowly after a full inhale, 3-5 reps. You lightly palpate the QL with two knuckles - lightly being the key. The slow and long exhales tune down the nervous system and reduce tone. No painful digging, needling or movement based releases needed. This improved her hip range to FN in flexion and IR and also her sidegliding in standing, which was needed for some LQ issues. Are you a patient in need of my help?
