âď¸Movement is Medicineâď¸
I've been hearing for decades now (yes I'm an old PT) that movement is medicine. It's great and catchy as an analogy. However, MDs are trained to prescribe medicine in a therapeutic dosage. I find that PTs don't really think about it and sticking to the do this "a few times a day in sets of 10." The rapid effects you gain in visit from any manual treatment or corrective exercise strategy are transient at best. They must be maintained with the correct dosing which is why I prescribe 10 times/hour or enough to stay ahead of it. Could be more, could be less. If you get improvements that aren't sticking between visits, it's probably the home program, and not the treatments themselves. Hope this helps!
