🔥Improve Knee Pain and Ankle Mobility with Tibial IR Progressions🔥
Many clinicians strengthen the glutes for single limb stance balance issues when knee valgus causes pain with closed chain activities. If the ankle is limited in dorsiflexion, this should be addressed in addition to strengthening. If the knee is too sensitized to perform WB mobilizations, my progression is as follows
🔵start in supine - twist the calf into internal rotation - hold the IR and flex the knee to end range flexion
🔵repeat this for several sets to desensitize knee flexion
🔵wrap with EDGE Mobility Band if needed for WB - have them perform a half kneel or lunge while holding the tibial IR
🔵you can do this WB progression with a step up, step down, double limb and single limb squat
🔵the patient can replicate most of these themselves 10 times/hour to keep the ankle mobility improved and knee desensitized to load
🔵eventually load up the joint/muscles with PREs
