👀 How Serious are Pinched Nerves?👀
A lumbar lateral shift patient I have been working with was ready for discharge yesterday. He is completely pain free and back to golfing and working out. He had an MRI scheduled prior to starting PT with me 1 month ago. So he decided to "see what was going on" Unfortunately despite being Sx free, he was told he had 4 bulging discs and 2 of them were "bad." He also had pinched nerves. So he asked, in lumbar extension/load (most of the program which dramatically improved his chronic pain), doesn't that pinch a nerve? I simply explained that nerves are designed to be stretched and compressed and that's just part of movement and load. He was relieved and we closed the book on that chapter! Hope this helps!
