Have you heard of the term, grooving the new motion? I first heard this from Todd Hargrove, author of the excellent A Guide to Better Movement - it's a must read! I used to think he meant being "groovy." However, it's really an analogy likening movement/mobility to skiing. You need to carve the initial path down the mountain, but also keep grooving the path until it's well formed. If you don't keep working the path, it's just gets blown over and disappears. Similar to applying approach "x" and gaining mobility and function, you have to keep loading it first end range passively, then active loading to keep it.
