😎Prone Press Up Basics - Are You Doing it Correctly?😎
The Prone Press Up is a great exercise for low back pain/sciatica or what is mostly nonspecific low back pain. It is often not performed as efficiently as it could be. The goal is end range lumbar extension, and not segmental "string of pearls" peeling off of the table, or to keep the hips on the table.
🔵 Use only your arms and chest to press up
🔵if your hips come off of the table due to hip extension limitations, that's fine, let them sag at the end of the press up
🔵 extend the head/neck at the end of the press up - doing it earlier may kick on the paraspinals - this is supposed to be as passive as possible
As McKenzie used to say, "End range is where the magic happens." Don't give up on this often effective exercise, maybe you're not getting to end range or you're performing active extension.
