Breathing Rib Technique to Improve Rib Pain and Trunk Mobility

The PT in this video had moderate right lower rib pain for 2 years. Sx were worse with trunk rotation and eating large meals. It was also very tender to touch anteriorly and posteriorly. He was painful/limited to trunk rotation to the right and R lower ribs also had decreased lateral expansion with breathing. Holding the left ribcage down during deep inhales (after a full exhale) you can force more air into the contralateral side and thus improve rib mobility. This also improved his trunk rotation, and made his rib no longer painful to touch or movement. He was given thoracic whips for resets (were not tolerated prior to the breathing technique).
