😎Alternating Manual Resistance and Isometrics for Cervical Loading😎
Repeated End Range Loading of the Cervical Spine is a fast and easy way to improve a LOT of upper quarter complaints. The PT in the seminar had very limited cervical SB and rotation to the left, plus moderately limited and painful shoulder elevation. Instead of just loading a lot of yellow lights (painful during the motion, but no worse as a result), I used
🔵alternating manual resistance through the range to make the pain during the motion less and rapidly improve motion
🔵isometric shoulder shrugs at end range cervical retraction and SB abolished the end range pain
🔵upon retest, cervical rotation and SB were significantly improved as was L shoulder mobility
The patient was instructed to perform cervical retraction with SB and overpressure to the left (same side as limitation of head/neck and shoulder) 10 times hourly. After a visit or two, we would be able to further load his shoulder with standard mobility and strengthening exercises. Hope this helps!
